When I first started this natural journey, I had SOOO many questions. What oils do I use?, How do I apply?, What is the best carrier oil?, What IS a carrier oil?, What does it mean to apply NEAT?, and most of all...... Is this REALLY going to work?????
Over time and research those questions were answered and that biggie... YES! A hundred times YES! It does work! I STILL remember taking my now 12 year old out of class every four hours on my teaching breaks to strip off his socks and oil his toes and the bottoms of his feet when he was fighting sniffles and common allergies or when he was recovering from colds or ear infections. He would be rolling on the floor of my classroom laughing hysterically because it tickled so bad, but I was going to get those oils on him by golly!
Let me tell you-these essential oils, and many other natural products, have drastically changed our health, our lifestyle, and our ability to heal "holistically".
That word "holistic" means that it heals the "whole" body - all of the internal AND external factors that effect the body. When we are sick, it does not just affect our insides, it affects our mind, our desire to want to do anything, it affects our state or mood, etc. When we use essential oils to heal they not only provide healing support for the sickness inside, but work to also align our mood, mind, and thoughts. This, in turn, works to help us heal all of ourself and to also heal faster.
AMAZING ISN'T IT!

CHECK THIS OUT!!!
Lavender oil helps with respiratory function, lower blood and cholesterol levels, helps sedate and give a restful sleep, and even heals burns and stops pain.
Time To Sleep:
Lavender essential oil is safe topically with kids ages 2+ / you can diffuse lightly in the air with younger kiddos. To help those kiddos get to sleep add 5 drops of lavender oil to a diffuser in the child's room. It will naturally diffuse and release it's amazing relaxing and sedative properties and help your child get a restful sleep. (ages under 2-just use 1-2 drops of lavender oil to diffuser)
For adults: you can place oil in a diffuser also (8-10 drops) or you can apply a drop "neat" (directly to the skin with no carrier oil) on the temples or on wrists pulse points for a natural and restful sleep.
Lemon oil (or orange if you like that scent better) reduces nausea and indigestion, promotes healthy immune function, reduces cholesterol, helps with weight loss, and removes toxins from the body.
Natural Room Refresher:
8 oz glass jar, 15 drops lemon oil, 10 drops of guardian, 5 drops of eucalyptus, a small pinch of salt, 1 TBSP of witch hazel, and distilled water.
*Add your oils to your glass jar, top with salt, witch hazel, and finish the bottle off with the water.
This blend is a great blend to cleanse and purify the air, to spray with allergies hit, to help freshen rooms, to change the mood and uplift those in the area of the spray, and you can even use it as a cleansing spray to clean counters if needed.
(This blend is completely kid safe when sprayed in the air around the kiddos - do not use as a body spray on kiddos.)
Tea Tree oil is an amazing oil. It is also called Melaleuca essential oil. I am not a fan of the smell, but some absolutely love it. This oil is a powerhouse for any skin fungus with it's anti-fungal properties, but it also has other amazing benefits. It is a great insect repellent, all natural deodorant, helps to cleanse the mouth, treats acne, and you can even use it to clean fruits and vegetables.
All Natural Mouth Wash:
4 oz glass mason jar, 5 drops Tea Tree, 2 drops Eucalyptus, 3 drops guardian
*For an all natural, cleansing, germ-fighting and gum freshening mouthwash add the above oils to a mason jar, and add water. Brush your teeth as normal, then rinse with mouth wash and spit out. Enjoy the fresh clean feel knowing that you just added extra cleansing and healing power to your mouth and you did it all naturally :)
(Kids want to join in- just use the tea tree oil in their blend and they will still get a great cleansing but will be kid friendly)
Eucalyptus oil and peppermint oil go hand in hand. I chose Eucalyptus oil because it is more kid friendly and I can use it for my whole family. If you are looking for oils for yourself or an older sub-group, you can exchange with peppermint. They both host amazing properties that are very similar.
Eucalyptus is a powerhouse that targets not only viral symptoms but helps with respiratory function and calms the airway when fighting a cough or cold. It also helps to lower blood sugar, soothe and heal cold sores, and to freshen breath. Both eucalyptus and peppermint also work great as an insect repellent, but my favorite indoor natural insect repellent is peppermint.....it smells so fresh and clean.
All Natural Pest Control:
16 oz glass jar, 30-40 drops peppermint oil, 1 tbsp of kosher salt, distilled water
*Place all ingredients into glass jar, spray along base boards of home when needed for pest control.
Enjoy the aroma and know that the spiders, roaches, and other little creepy crawlies will not want to cross that line and invade your precious home.
(If you have crawling kiddos, replace the peppermint with 20 drops eucalyptus and 20 drops lemon, then spray baseboards while kiddo is not around.)
Wait 2 hours before allowing kiddo to crawl where you sprayed)
Guardian oil is a blend of five different oils (sweet orange, cinnamon, rosemary, eucalyptus, and clove). These five, when put together, remind me so much of my favorite season - FALL. But I use this blend because it works SOOO well to help fight allergies, support the immune system, and renew the body. This blend is a great addition to some of the recipes above, but it is also a great cleaner. This blend is my "go-to" when I need an all natural cleaning agent because I know that all of the oils in it are super charged to rid bacteria and virus strands, and will smell amazing while doing it.
All Natural All Purpose Spray :
16 oz glass jar, 30 drops guardian oil, 10 drops of lemon oil (optional for that extra yummy citrus smell), 1 tsp of kosher salt, 8 oz white vinegar, 8 oz warm tap water.
*Place oils and salt into glass jar, add vinegar till about halfway full (use a funnel for less mess), then add warm water to top off. Spray as needed to cleanse the counters and non-porous surfaces in the kitchen, bath, laundry, etc... and wipe up the counters after spraying.
I LOVE this simple and easy recipe knowing that I am cleaning the counters, it costs next to nothing (if oils are on hand) and it makes the house smell so fresh and clean. AND my kiddos don't get yucky synthetic fumes from smelling the spray....they enjoy the mood lifting benefits while the counters get the cleansing benefits :) Win-Win for me!
HELP- Where do I get the oils?
Honestly, there are so many essential oil brands and companies out there. The biggest take-away is to get 100% therapeutic grade oils. There are brands such as Young Living, Aromahead, Edens Garden, Now, Doterra, etc...
My #1 go to brand is Edens Garden. There are many reasons behind it, the number one reason being price and affordability. I also like that it was and still is all woman-run and operated :) They are also very clear and open about their distilling methods and have certification for each oil.
That doesn't mean that the other companies are any less. Young Living and Doterra are both amazing brands as are other oil brands. You find what works for you and love it - as long as those oils are 100% therapeutic grade and you can find documentation on how they are processed and their accountability records.
If you don't already have an oil provider, if you are starting BRAND SPANKING NEW click here and check out Edens Garden....they will not disappoint you!
